One Killed in Dallas Rollover Crash

A deadly rollover accident occurred at Midpark Road and U.S. 75 northbound in Dallas last week. The accident happened in the HOV lane about 5:30 a.m. on a weekday. A 49 year old driver lost control of his vehicle and hit a retaining wall, which caused the vehicle to roll over. The driver was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger inside the vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
After the crash occurred, another driver stopped behind the accident to render aid. His vehicle was hit by a vehicle whose driver was later arrested for drunk driving. The interstate was closed for hours while police investigated the accident.
This accident illustrates how deadly rollover accidents can be. When a vehicle loses control and rolls over, the vehicle’s occupants can be at serious risk for injury and even death. Rollover accidents can be caused by vehicle design, speed, bad weather, road issues, and collisions with other vehicles.
While any vehicle will roll under the right circumstances, there are usually common outside factors that occur in most rollover accidents. Higher speeds are very common in rollover accidents. Vehicles that have a higher center of gravity are more likely to roll than lower vehicles. Tire grip can also play a factor in rollovers. In addition, another factor that contributes to serious injuries in rollover accidents includes a lack of safety features, such as a lack of restraints and a lack of protection for roofs.
