Grapevine Father Seriously Injured in Uber Accident

A father from Grapevine is struggling for his life after an Uber in which he was riding was hit by a drunk driver. The man attended a concert with some coworkers and took an Uber around 2 a.m. When the Uber was going through an intersection in Houston, the Uber was hit. The driver who hit the Uber was arrested for drunk driving.

All five people in the Uber suffered broken bones in the accident. The Uber driver suffered a brain hemorrhage but remains in stable condition. The father remains unconscious in the ICU at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Another passenger is in critical condition and one is in stable condition. The man and his coworkers had opted to take Uber because they were drinking, and ironically were hit by a drunk driver.

Accidents involving rideshare vehicles such as Uber and Lyft have at times been tricky in the past. In their early years, rideshare companies would often fail to provide coverage after an accident, claiming that the drivers were independent contractors and any accidents were the responsibility of their personal automobile policies. Now, however, Uber can help pay for injuries that occur while a passenger is in one of their vehicles, even if the Uber driver is not at fault in the accident. The company provides up to $1 million in injury coverage, although that has to be split among all the passengers.

If you have been injured while you were a passenger in a rideshare vehicle such as Uber or Lyft, you should speak with an attorney. You may have several legal routes available for you to recover the maximum compensation you can after the accident.
